Sydney Morning Herald (Business) LEASING SERVICE By KIRSTY NEEDHAM Eastcoast Property Software has signed an agreement with the Australian Retailers Association that will see its property management software leased over the Internet to small and medium-sized retailers. EPS has previously sold its software to major Australian retailers including Coles Myer, David Jones and 7-Eleven, and is examining ways of expanding the market. The Internet leasing service is aimed at companies that can't afford to buy such software outright. Instead, these retailers "rent" the software by paying a monthly fee to access it through the Internet. The fee will vary according to how many stores the retail chain operates. EPS set up an office in Silicon Valley late last year, and it made its first US sales in April. EPS general manager Ms Elisa House said the company would pay the Australian Retailers Association a fee for each member that signed onto the service, in return for the ARA promoting it to about 20,000 member retailers. The leasing service will be launched in October. For further information, please contact:
