Major RIS Update

Those of you with RIS subscriptions will be pleased to hear that we have just completed another major update of the RIS database. This update is unusually large because of the number of new leases for both Castle Towers and Warringah Mall included with the update. With a normal update there will be 10 or 20 leases from each centre to be added to the database however, both of these centres had over 100 new leases added. We assume that this is because these centres have recently been through major renovations.

This is also a useful time to revisit the source of lease data in the RIS service. We are able to provide the RIS service because in NSW some types of leases must be registered with the Lands and Titles office. However, for whatever reason, not all leases are registered in a timely manner. As a result some leases that have been executed are not immediately available on RIS. If you have questions about this please call or email us

How to use RIS

Different customers use RIS in different ways and we thought that you might like to review a couple of other ways to gain value from this service:

  1. What is the right rent? When using RIS it is often useful to look not just at what your competitors are paying but also what other leases of a similar size and term are costing.

  2. Good locations coming up! Want to open a store in a particular centre? Combine lease expiry and lease area criteria to find a store of the right size in your target centre which is coming up for renewal.

Retail One-Stop

At the Retail Technology Show EPS launched a new retail focused e-mail bulletin into the Australian marketplace. The Retail One-Stop email bulletin provides up to the minute information on news and views in the Australian retail market place. Covering topics as broad as retail property, technology, training, recruitment; Retail One-Stop is your one-stop location to find out what's happening.

This bulletin is edited and compiled by veteran retail commentator Ian Allan. Mr Allan founded Australian Retail Business & Technology magazine, initiated the Retail Business Technology Exhibition in 1999 and was a judge at the Retail Technology Global Forum in Amsterdam last year.
