Mobile phone industry slammed
So obsessed is the mobile telephone industry about the debts,
doubts and delays surrounding third generation (3G) mobiles that it
has forgotten the consumer.
The warning comes from the G2 research division of Gartner Inc.,
the prestigious U.S.-based research and advisory firm with associates
in Australia.

Westfield on the move at Tuggerah, EastGardens
Westfield has lodged two development applications with Wyong
Council, NSW Central Coast, for a $60 million project which will
include a new level One extension and the expansion of the existing
Greater Union cinema complex and Big W discount department store at
Westfield Tuggerah.
These proposed changes complement the current development
application with council for an outdoor restaurant and entertainment
precinct which incorporates a tavern, two café restaurants and
four leisure retail stores surrounding an outdoor area with water
features, dining facilities and an amphitheatre.

Vic cracks down on slips and trips
WorkSafe Victoria has announced a new enforcement campaign
targeting slips, trips and falls in the retail industry.(See Retail
OneStop, October 24).
Starting this month, WorkSafe inspectors will be visiting retail
workplaces across Victoria.

Premier lobbied over retail rivalry
The good offices of NSW Premier Bob Carr have been enlisted to
push through a $105 million project in Gosford’s CBD that would
combat retail rivalry with the Lend Lease-managed Erina Fair, on the
NSW Central Coast.(Retail One-Stop, October 31).
Gosford Chamber of Commerce director John Phillips has urged the
NSW Premier to talk to his Planning Minister Andrew Refshauge about
the issue “because Gosford needed a project as visionary as the
proposed Spurbest high-rise development”.
